What do I need to Join?

To join the MLAA as a Business Member – Master Locksmith you will need to:

• be carrying on a locksmithing business
• have passed, or employ a person who has passed the MLAA’s prescribed Practical and Master Keying competency tests
• provide a current Police Name Check
• hold a current Security Industry Licence or registration as required by the State or Territory in which you operate.

To join the MLAA as a Business Member – General Locksmith or an Individual Member, the criteria are the same except that you will need to:

• have passed, or employ a person who has passed the MLAA’s prescribed competency test at a general level (ie. 60 marks and over in the Practical module and 80 marks and over in the Master Keying module) only, or
• have passed an approved entry or product entitlement test conducted by or for another recognised locksmithing association, or
• have completed an approved locksmithing trade apprenticeship

As a Business Member – Master Locksmith you will full membership rights and access to all MLAA high security locking systems. As a Business Member – General Locksmith you will only be able to access certain MLAA products but will otherwise enjoy full membership rights. Individual Members are able to attend, but not vote at, meetings of Members.

Fees

The subscription year runs from 1st July to 30th June. There is no entrance fee but the annual subscription must be paid in advance.  New members joining during the subscription year are required to pay a pro-rata subscription for the balance of the year.  Fees are detailed in thr following table:
