A pre-requisite of membership is that applicants must supply a Police Certificate verifying that their name has been checked against a national database of criminal records and that they hold an appropriate security industry licence (see below).
Master Locksmiths have the skills and experience to recommend effective security solutions to meet your specific needs. They can also supply you with an exclusive range of MLAA patented high security locking systems which are designed and manufactured in Australia to meet Australian Standards and market conditions. Don't entrust your security to just any locksmith or handyman - choose a qualified, licensed Master Locksmith.
Security Industry Regulation
The security industry in Australia and New Zealand is regulated by a system of licensing and/or registration which is different in each jurisdiction. It is not widely known in the communitythat locksmiths, like builders, electricians and plumbers, are subject to these laws and must be licensed or registered to carry out security-related activities. Most jurisdictions require that locksmiths businesses and their trade employees be licensed to carry out specified security products and services.
In order to obtain a security industry licence, locksmiths must:
- be members of a government approved professional association such as the Master Locksmiths Association, and
- be subject to regular police name checks
Always Choose a Licensed Master Locksmith
You wouldn't choose an unlicensed builder, plumber or electrician so don't put the security of your family, home or business at risk. By choosing a Master Locksmith you can be sure that you are dealing with a qualified, licensed security professional. Always ask to see your locksmith's security industry licence.
